I would argue that perhaps we are really in a better place as a profession with the increased information, research and data improving our efficiency. These gains come with a potential danger of being disconnected from our core purpose; I agree with you entirely on this point.

Thank you for bringing this point to light, I think it will be increasingly important as we continue down our ‘data-driven path’.
